Teaching the Future: Why Circular Design Starts with Education 🌱
Real change doesn't just start with new products; it starts with people. As part of Science Week, we recently brought the classroom to life at John Lewis & Partners, Oxford Street. Partnering with Biffa, we hosted a group of Year 1 children from Queen's College Preparatory School to explore the journey of circular design.
By bringing the recycling process to the shop floor, we wanted to show the next generation that the objects in our homes have a story—one that doesn't have to end at the bin.
During our day at the Oxford Street flagship, it was remarkable to see how quickly these children made the connection between waste and value. They didn't just see plastic pellets; they saw the potential for beautiful, useful products. It was a powerful reminder that while ReBorn is built on systems and materials, the heart of the circular economy is education and connection.

The highlight of the day was watching the children transform their own ReBorn-Biffa bins with designs inspired by the Biffa Wasteaters. By turning a functional object into something joyful and personal, they proved that when the "why" behind recycling is clear, it stops being a chore and becomes a creative opportunity. Their enthusiasm shows that a sustainable lifestyle is something that can be embraced at any age.
At ReBorn, we believe that helping the next generation understand that waste is a valuable resource is key to shifting our culture. We are proud to work with partners who believe that building a circular future starts with curiosity and creativity. By teaching these values today, we are ensuring that the homes of tomorrow are built on a foundation of care, quality and connection.
