Food for Thought: Rethinking Waste with Katie Pix 💫
What happens when you stop seeing your kitchen waste as "rubbish" and start seeing it as a resource? We recently caught up with food and lifestyle creator Katie Pix at our John Lewis Oxford Street window to talk about exactly that. Currently, up to 40% of the average black bin bag is food waste—a staggering amount of potential energy just sitting in landfill. But together, we’re showing that your leftovers have a much more exciting story to tell.

With the Simpler Recycling initiative launching across England, food caddies are becoming a staple in every home. As Katie shared with her community, this shift makes it easier than ever to turn potato peelings and coffee grounds into renewable energy and fertiliser for UK farms. It is a small change to our daily routine, but when we connect emotionally with these habits, they stop feeling like a chore and start feeling like something worth doing right.
At ReBorn, we believe the tools we use for these moments should be as beautiful as they are functional. Our collaboration with Biffa has resulted in food waste caddies that are circular in every sense: crafted in the UK from the very materials Biffa collects. Seeing Katie showcase the range in the heart of London perfectly captured our mission: proving that there is real value in what we throw away.
